Marvel Is Currently Holding Nerds Hostage By Announcing The 'Avengers: Doomsday' Cast One Member At A Time Throughout The Day

Yesterday, we heard through the grapevine (aka a few "scoopers" said) that Marvel would have a MASSIVE announcement this morning. Some even claimed the magnitude of said an would rival Robert Downey Jr's casting as Doctor Doom....

That sent all of our minds racing - could it be the announcement of the X-Men? Possibly another shocking addition to the next 'Avengers' cast? Chris Evans also returning to play a major villain?! Nobody knew what this could mean!

Then, at 11am ET - Marvel Studios went live across all platforms with a shot of a chair with Chris Hemsworth's name on it, followed by a chair with Vanessa Kirby's name on it about ten minutes later, followed by a chair with Anthony Mackie's name on it around ten minutes after that - and it became clear that this was an 'Avengers: Doomsday' cast announcement, as they are now officially in-production. 

So far it's been mostly names you would expect to be in the movie, like the aforementioned Chris Hemsworth/Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Sebastian Stan, Letita Wright, the new Fantastic Four cast, and Simu Liu. Some were more surprising than those, but not necessarily shocking by any means, like Tenoch Huerta Mejia (Namor) and Winston Duke (M'Baku). Some were names from the upcoming 'Thunderbolts' movie, like Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Lewis Pullman, and Wyatt Russell, which kinda spoils the fate of their characters in that movie - but whatever. And now we're finally getting into the heavy hitters/big surprises - Tom Hiddleston will return as Loki, Kelsey Grammar will return as Beast, Patrick Stewart will return as Professor X, Ian McKellan will return as Magneto, and Alan Cumming will return as Nightcrawler. I'm sure even bigger names are on deck too! Maybe Chris Evans is still on the table, maybe Ryan Gosling's long rumored role (Ghost Rider?) will be teased - who knows! 

I'll continue to update this blog as more actors are announced - but I'm stoked to finally getting some real hype for this next 'Avengers' movie. Hopefully they keep a few surprises locked and loaded, though - don't announce *TOO* much, Marvel!
