ECHLThe Greenville Road Warriors announced that they will now be known as the Greenville Swamp Rabbits.

The Road Warriors came to Greenville in 2010 and were purchased by current owner, Fred Festa, chairman & CEO of W.R. Grace and Co., in 2012. Since their arrival, the team has been embraced by the Greenville community, making the rebranding a logical transition for the team. After signing a new five year lease with the Bon Secours Wellness Arena in March 2015, the timing was ideal to strengthen the team’s ties to Greenville and the surrounding communities. The Swamp Rabbits represent a piece of Greenville history that not only pays homage to the legacy of the historic train line, but also provides a brand that better appeals to fans of all ages.

I don’t know how many of you keep up with the ECHL but it’s about that time that everybody purchases their Gamecenter package because if you don’t have Swamp Rabbit Fever at this point then I don’t know what to tell you. Minor league teams in all sports are always coming up with bizarro names, but the Swamp Rabbits take the cake for the most bizarre. And it’s incredible. Sure, they may be the ECHL affiliate for the New York Rangers but I’ll be damned if I admit that I don’t love everything about this team right now. I mean just look at that logo. THE STICK IS A CARROT. It’s amazing. For the first time in my life, I am truly jealous of the people in Greenville, South Carolina. Always thought it would just be a bunch of backwoods hicks in that town but little did I know that they get to be fans of the greatest hockey team in all the land now. Oh, and if you don’t think that I’ll be purchasing a Swamp Rabbits jersey as soon as Pres pays me so I can afford one, well then you’re off your rocker.

That sweater is a thing of beauty. I can’t really put my finger on it right now but the patch on the shoulder is giving me a real Nickelodeon vibe and I love everything about it. I’m fired up for the 2015-16 Swamp Rabbits season and you should be too. Or not. But whatever.

P.S. – The puck bunnies are gonna be out in full force for the Swamp Rabbits. And speaking of puck bunnies… hottest bunny on the block hands down. Happy WCW.
