Kevin Stefanski Is the New Head Coach of the Atlanta Falcons

You know what they say: the Cleveland Browns' trash is the Atlanta Falcons' treasure.

Falcons new President of Football Matt Ryan stepped in and immediately identified Kevin Stefanski as his guy to lead Atlanta into a new era and made sure the Falcons got him. In what has to be a once-in-a-lifetime occurrence, there actually was some substantial competition to land the fired coach of the Browns.

Things obviously ended poorly for Stefanski in Cleveland, with the Browns going 8-26 in his final two seasons. But that's just the default setting of the Cleveland Browns. They had this poor guy trotting Shedeur Sanders and Dillon Gabriel out there. I don't really know what he was supposed to do.

In the four years prior, Stefanski led the Browns to a 37-30 mark, including two playoff berths and as many NFL Coach of the Year awards. If you do that in Cleveland, you can coach my ballclub any day.

Ryan still has to make a general manager hire, but there is plenty of talent currently on Atlanta's roster to be a bona fide playoff team in 2026. If Stefanski can unlock Michael Penix — whenever he's able to stay on the field — this could be a home run. Hit on the offensive coordinator hire and let's go to work.

I have no delusions of grandeur for the Atlanta Falcons, but I do trust Matt Ryan. We have an actual football guy in charge now. Maybe that will do something.
