Jonathan Toews Just Got The Most Deserved 5 Minute Standing Ovation At The United Center And It Was Chills For Everyone

What a moment for our forever Captain, Jonathan Toews.

Nobody deserved this more. There was a period of time (when Crosby was having his concussion problems) when there wasn't a center in the world that you'd rather have than #19, Jonathan Bryan Toews. Joel Quenneville called him the most competitive player he ever had. He did EVERYTHING for the Chicago Blackhawks. Power play, penalty kill, toughest defensive matchups, every big face off, and every big game. Jonathan Toews always seemed to come through. The Conn Smythe in 2010 he was the best player in the league for the 2 most important months of the season and when the Blackhawks were running on fumes at the end of the 2015 Conference Finals it was Jonathan Toews who made sure Game 7 was never in doubt.

It's been so long since 2010 that I feel like people forget what 19 was really like at his absolute peak. In the Olympics, surrounded by super stars, and playing out of position Jonathan Toews won offensive player of the Tournament as Canada won Gold. Then he followed that performance up by winning the Conn Smythe and the Stanley Cup. He was only a true ppg player once in his entire career, but in 2010 in the playoffs when it mattered the most he had 29 points in 22 games.

I loved him so much and the way it ended in Chicago was less than ideal, to say the least, so I am thrilled he got to take a true victory lap where his fans could shower him with the praise he deserved while leading this team out of it's darkest era. It couldn't have happened without because he did whatever the team needed to be successful year after year after year. Thank you, Jonny.
