Texas Longhorns Head Coach Steve Sarkisian Believes The 2025 Indiana Hoosiers Deserve a Team Statue

I see what you tried to do there, Steve. Trying to lower the expectations of college football fans in Austin, Texas. Not on Curt Cignetti's watch. Curt Cignetti has made it his personal mission to make college football coaches across the country look as stupid as possible. To make the life of all new head coaches at P4 conference schools a living hell from day one. "What's that Alex Golesh? You need more than 1 season to build a historically great college football team at Auburn University? You believe Auburn is a harder place to win than Bloomington, Indiana?"

But still, Texas Longhorns Head Football Coach, Steve Sarkisian makes an excellent point. The 2025 Indiana Hoosiers do deserve a statue. I guess that's not really a hot take. I'm not sure if Ohio State or Alabama would construct a statue for a 16-0 season. But the Indiana Hoosiers? For the 2025 Indiana Hoosiers, the over/under on statues in Bloomington has to be no less than 4.5. Honestly, that's probably low. They might hit double digits. And they might do it by the time next season starts.

I know Indiana historically prides themselves as a basketball school, but it's possible the Indiana Basketball Hoosiers will be forced to play their home games around a diving Fernando Mendoza statue at center court of Assembly Hall for the foreseeable future.

Especially considering the last night's Indiana Hoosier's National Championship (football), might have been the loudest moment at Assembly Hall since Christian Watford hit that buzzer beater vs Kentucky. Maybe even louder than that.

Diving Touchdown Fernando Mendoza would have to be the first statue. The only other option would be Curt Cignetti in his signature "hands on hips for straight men" pose.

Clearly both of those will be statues in Bloomington at some point in the near future. From there, you might as well give statues to Charlie Becker, Elijah Sarratt, Omar Cooper Jr., D'Angelo Ponds, both running backs (Hemby & Black), both the linebackers (Fisher & Jones), the entire defensive line, Pat Coogan & Carter Smith from the O-Line, Jamari Sharpe making the game winning interception, Louis Moore can have one too, Radicic the kicker, both coordinators, Don Fisher the long time radio guy, Fernando Mendoza's backup/younger brother Alberto, and one of Fernando Mendoza's parents celebrating a touchdown while seated.

Appreciate the idea Coach Stark. I like where your heads at. But I'm pretty sure the statues were coming with or without your suggestion. Honestly, the statues of Cignetti and Mendoza were coming even if the Hoosiers lost last night. Winning the National Championship just expedited the process. Once Indiana fans are done burning Bloomington to the ground in celebration, the city might just rebuild itself as one big outdoor 2025 Indiana Hoosiers Football museum.
