The John Harbaugh Honeymoon Period Is Over After The Giants Hire Matt Nagy As Offensive Coordinator
So that is most certainly...a hire. Ever since the Browns hiring of Todd Monken continued the tradition of the Giants new head coach missing out on their first choice for offensive coordinator (Kevin Stefanski for Pat Shurmur, Brian Daboll for Joe Judge, and Ken Dorsey for Brian Daboll), Giants fans have waited with anticipation to see who was going to call plays for our beautiful baby Jaxson Dart. When the name Matt Nagy was announced, it felt like we were back in the dark days of Giants Twitter full of doom and gloom and memes making fun of Big Blue.
Now because I am an optimist out of necessity to mentally survive as a sports fan, I am going to ignore all the numbers that says Matt Nagy somehow made Patrick Mahomes' Chiefs offense a chore to watch (along with Travis Kelce's age and a hodge podge receiver corps) before his pal Andy Reid let him leave this offseason before bringing back Eric Bienemy as OC, who had those Chiefs offenses humming. I am also going to pass on asking any Bears fans what they think of Nagy since I'm pretty sure I know the whole answer based on everything I saw from the Barstool Chicago guys during Nagy's tenure there. Finally, I will be avoiding all pictures of Nagy since he just has one of those faces that makes him seem like a football coach, even if he's forgotten more about the game today than I've known my entire life.
So what's a big dumb optimist like me going to believe in? John Harbaugh. That's right, I am firmly leaning into the In Harbaugh We Trust mantra since the reason you hire a Football CEO coach is because you trust him to make the right hires, and if he doesn't, fix them by making the right fires. Sure I could be concerned that the one time Harbaugh won less than 8 games in Baltimore was when he fired failed Bears coach Marc Trestman to run his offense before he fired him during the following season. But that's not what an optimist like me would say.
Instead, I will believe in The Harbaugh Way that has already started removing the lifetime scholarship policy away from longtime members of the Giants front office and trust that Nagy can build a good offense with Jaxson Dart, Malik Nabers, Cam Skattebo, and Andrew Thomas as the foundation. I will also be happy that John Harbaugh did not give Greg Roman another go at it as OC after being bounced from Jim Harbaugh's team last month and acknowledge Matt Nagy being named OC of NYG is much better than Matt Nagy being named HC of NYG like was rumored to possibly happen 2.5 months ago.

Now let's go get a stud offensive line coach since the guy who made this year's O-Line the first decent unit since Eli was under center is with Brian Daboll in Tennessee.
