The Luka Doncic Trade Continues To Torture Mavs Fans After Anthony Davis Is Surprisingly Traded To The Washington Wizards

What, you thought we were done with chaos this NBA Trade Deadline Season? Ha! You fool! Not only are we not done, but we're just getting started. We had some surprising moves yesterday with JJJ and James Harden, so what has today brought us?

How about an Anthony Davis trade to…..the Wizards!

First off, shoutout Wizards! Listen, sometimes you have to take a swing to bring in elite talent when you're not exactly a free agent destination, and look at what they gave up! Khris Middleton's expiring? OK! None of their key young players? OK! Some picks? Whatever! If we're talking about rebuilds, it's hard to argue the Wizards haven't done a fantastic job.

Trae Young, Anthony Davis, Alex Sarr, Tre Johnson, Kyshawn George, Bilal Coulibaly…..I kind of like that? It's certainly a better position than they were to start the year, and at some point you have to make the decision as a franchise that the tanking and losing stage is over and it's time to take that next step into actually winning games. Defensively, both AD and Sarr are going to help Trae Young's issues, and given that AD still has 1+1 left on his current deal, it's not like they gave up all those picks for a rental. Maybe they'll be the ones to end up paying him his next extension, but in the meantime, it's hard not to love this move for the Wizards.

For the Mavs, and more specifically Mavs fans, this is once again another kick right to the dick.

Basically, the Mavs traded Luka Doncic for Max Christie, Khris Middleton's expiring, and some picks?

In the end, Anthony Davis played just 29 total games as a Dallas Maverick. 29!!! Imagine trading your franchise building block for a role player in Max Christie and then 29 games of AD? I don't mean to rub it in, but WOOF.

If the OKC pick is the one that was slated to go over to the Wizards, that is projected as the 30th pick this year. That wouldn't be the ones the Sixers or Clippers or Rockets may be sending over, which also doesn't help lessen the blow.

Considering the Luka Trade was already considered one of the worst trades in all of sports history, now that we see what it's continued to turn into, it really hammers home how much Nico Harrison hurt this franchise. It almost doesn't even seem real. The initial trade was bad enough, but now that's turned into Washington Wizards scraps? Thankfully Cooper Flagg is incredible, but remember that wasn't part of the Luka Trade. That's what the NBA did to make up for it. That was NOT part of Nico's plan.

If I'm the Wizards, I'm telling AD to just sit back and relax with Trae Young. As it stands now, the Wizards are in play for a top 4 pick. There's a chance they get to add one of the elite freshmen from this Draft class to this mix, which would be VERY exciting if I were a Wizards fan. It just goes to show how quickly things can change in the NBA. In the span of a month, the Wizards went from a team that didn't really have a direction or a path to contention, to now having two All Star caliber talents at two important positions to add to the already promising young core.

On the flip side, all this does for Mavs fans is torture them even more. They simply cannot escape the Luka Trade. I've never seen anything like it. I wasn't sure it was possible, but to me this probably makes Nico Harrison even more hated by that fanbase. The one key piece that was supposed to be the return for Luka is now a Wizard. What a league.
