"I Don't Know How You Verify It" – Mike Francesa Still Throws 150 MPH Knuckleballs, Is Unsure How We Know The NY Jets '4 Straight Plays, 26 Yards' Tweet is Real
What commentary can I even add to that? It's perfect. It's as perfectly Mike Francesa as it gets.
Credit to Mike Francesa. He's a seasoned vet in this business. He's been around the block. But just because he's a little older now doesn't mean he's not hip to the ways of the internet. He can smell bullshit from a mile away. Mike isn't going to wind up with egg on his face for slamming the Jets over a completely fabricated social media post. Do you know how much nonsense is out there in this day and age? We don't know what's real and what's not real. It's a big problem, John Fanta. Ever heard of AI? Do you know how easy it would be for ANY one of us to photoshop a tweet from the Jets official Twitter handle? I don't know how you'd even go about verifying such a thing.
Mike especially isn't gonna let young whippersnapper John Fanta sneak a fake tweet by him. No sir, Mr. Fanta. Maybe you're willing to believe everything you see on the World Wide Web, but a 40+ year professional like MIke Francesa... no, no, no. He's going to need a little more proof than "It was tweeted from the Jets account."
I bet that was awesome for John Fanta to realize he was in the middle of a classic Mike Francesa moment. Mike's not on the air like he used to be. There aren't nearly as many opportunities for him to throw 150-MPH knuckleballs with 2 feet of movement like he used to.
But hang "I don't know how you verify it" about the Jets '4 straight plays, 26 yards' tweet in the rafters. That's as good as it gets. Next time you have Mike on the show, John Fanta, you'd better come with real proof. Not just some silly screenshot.
