We Have Never Seen a Team Like the 2026 Atlanta Falcons

Even by Falcons standards, the 2026 season is off the rails. I am unsure if this is the best bad team ever or the worst good team ever, but I know every week is going to be chaos.

Two weeks in, it looked like this could be one of the worst NFL teams we've seen in a long time. Then Michael Penix came back and these guys were the second coming of the Greatest Show on Turf. Then Atlanta absolutely bottled a game away late to the Ravens and lost to the Bears at home, only to come back this afternoon and beat the undefeated 49ers after trailing 14-3.

Nothing about this team makes sense.

The good news is that for all that has gone wrong, if the Panthers lose in Green Bay on Thursday night, Atlanta will somehow be tied for first place in the NFC South. And if I know this division like I think I do, the matchup between those teams in Week 18 will feature two 7-9 teams battling it out for all the marbles.

James Pearce Jr. will be back in two weeks to bolster a defense that did an incredible job today. The schedule the rest of the way is manageable. Drake London and Kyle Pitts finally have someone who can get them the football.

This is why we Falcon, folks.
