All Heart: The Crowd At 4:30 In The Morning Break Out The Slowest Wave Possible Is A Great Reminder That College Hoops Always Needs A 24-Hour Marathon

I've been very vocal about being anti-wave. I think it's dumb. But, there's one thing that change my mind and that's seeing the slowest wave possible at 4:30 in the morning. That's because Field of 68 is running the 24-hour marathon again.

I know it's mid-majors, but hey, that's always what it was for the 4am and 6am games back in the day. Plus, I finally can retire my blog begging for this to come back every year. It's the perfect way to start college hoops. It was a staple to watch these random games just because you're awake in college. Throw on Manhattan vs LIU at 6am because why the hell not? Then it leads into the massive games.

Look at tonight alone. We have these games:

Florida vs Miami (6pm)

Purdue vs Gonzaga (7:30)

Ohio State vs BYU (9pm)

Arizona vs UCLA (10pm)

Enough of big time games to get fans excited. I don't care that it's going against Monday Night Football. College football should always begin this way. It should start with Bill Raftery calling the first game of the season then leading into dozens of people doing the wave at 4:30 in the morning. My only complaint is none of these games are on campus. Stop playing games away from campus. I'll be brave enough to say it - fans on campus make it a better environment. Let's get more games back where, you know, students are.

Either way, shout out having 24 hours of hoops on. It's the only right way to start opening day. I know Nova/Notre Dame was yesterday, but today is opening day. And shout out these fans. This is all heart at 4:30 in the morning, following Halloween weekend. You just want to sleep. You're crashing from eating too much candy at an age you shouldn't. Leave it all in the stands.
