The Swifties Aren't Gonna Like This One: Tyler Kolek Says Taylor Swift Is Probably The Fakest Celeb Knicks Fan That He's Seen Courtside
Tyler Kolek has no idea what type of army he just unleashed upon himself.
He was playing 2K with Deuce McBride, when a question was posed about who the fakest celebrity Knicks fan was at Madison Square Garden. Kolek mentioned Taylor Swift, and Deuce McBride agreed. The word "performative" was also thrown around in their conversation. Yikes.
Taylor Swift, of course, was at MSG for the historic Knicks comeback in Game 4 of The Finals. And it was at that game where she and her friends (like Mariska Hargitay and Alana Haim) all wore custom Knicks shirts together. I'll let you guys be the judge on whether that was "performative" or not.
In fairness to Tyler Kolek, he's not the first person to question Taylor Swift's credentials as a Knicks fan. In fact, someone on the radio questioned her credentials in that same game. Monica McNutt, if you remember, was caught on a hot mic saying that Taylor needed to get out of MSG because she wasn't a real fan.
The Swifties immediately POUNCED on McNutt, and the clip was community-noted in a heartbeat. It was one of the fastest community notes I've ever seen, to be honest with you. You just had a ton of people rushing to provide evidence of Taylor's fandom, including this picture of her in full Knicks getup from 2015.

There's been some other documentation, as well:
But I think the biggest thing working against Taylor was the fact that she was quite literally sitting courtside at a Cavaliers playoff game two weeks prior. And she was seemingly rooting for the Cavs…in a series where they were playing the Knicks…
Obviously, it's not like she was dressed head to toe in Cavs gear, but there wasn't any blue or orange on her body, either. And the fact that she was with her Cleveland fan fiancé (now husband) definitely raised some concerns about her rooting interest in that game.
Regardless, we are eternally grateful that she did sit courtside for that game. Otherwise, we wouldn't have been blessed with her sacred chair in the Barstool office.
But let's face it, guys. Every single Knicks fan that sits courtside at MSG is performative. They're celebrities. They're performative in nature. They love the status. They love being seen on TV. They love getting their face up on the jumbotron. There's no need to single out Taylor Swift when there are countless others that could've been mentioned, too.

I just hope Tyler Kolek is able to handle the blowback. Because trust me, the Swifties are already on his ass. And they're not letting up anytime soon.
