Kiko Alonso Suffers Partially Torn ACL - Season May Be Salvaged, May Be Done For The Year

kiko

NFL – The third-year linebacker acquired in the LeSean McCoy trade partially tore his left ACL in Sunday’s loss to the Cowboys, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Tuesday morning, citing sources informed of the player’s situation. The injury isn’t as bad as the Eagles initially feared, per Rapoport, and the linebacker will meet with Dr. James Andrews to get a second opinion. That will determine if Alonso’s season is over or if he can return to the field at some point this year. The injury is to the same knee that was surgically repaired following an ACL tear in the summer of 2014. Alonso also tore his right ACL in college and underwent hip surgery earlier in 2014.

So…Kiko can either be out a couple weeks and be back out there below 100% or be done for the season. What a damn shame. Obviously we want to see this batshit freak of nature out on the field ASAP, but we also gotta remember he’s only 25. If surgery is eventually going to be required with another 9+ month rehabilitation time, it might be the wise play to get cut now and call it a year. It absolutely sucks that his ligaments are essentially Polly-O String Cheese, but there’s nothing much that can be done. All we can hope for is a quick and speedy recovery whether he plays again this year or next. But, seriously, we kinda need him back doing shit like this in a few weeks. This city might be burned to the ground by the time next year’s training camp is scheduled to start.
