Terrell Suggs Has A Nickname for Steve Smith and That Nickname Is "Pound Puppy"

(via Ryan Mink) – Steve Smith on having his locker next to Terrell Suggs: “It’s not as crazy as people might think. We get along and have some good conversations about different things in the last months. He does call me “Pound Puppy” every now and then. But mostly, we talk football, teammates and have fun.”

At first glance, this news was concerning. “Pound puppy” is just plain disrespectful on so many levels, especially to a seasoned vet like Steve Smiff. That’s the kind of stuff that can rip a weaker locker room apart. There’s a million other things I’d rather be called than “pound puppy”. Take “cake-eater” for instance. But it’s gotta mean everything that Sizzle hasn’t been mutilated yet by the wrath of Señor Blood and Guts (my newest nickname for him, please don’t kill me Steve). Suggs has achieved that coveted Steve Smith Stamp of Approval. He’s still standing tall with that beautiful smile of his. All signs point to this being nothing but a good thing. Pound Puppy just became the biggest compliment you can give a man. Tight locker rooms practice together, joke together, and win Super Bowls together. Glad we won’t be seeing any one-hitters down the stretch. Pound Puppies for life.
