ESPN - Doug Martin wants to be known as “Dougernaut.” The Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back made his preference known Wednesday morning, which marks the latest twist in his personal campaign against the “Muscle Hamster” label. He received the “Muscle Hamster” nickname during his time at Boise State, and since entering the NFL as the 31st overall pick in 2012, Martin has made known his displeasure with it on multiple occasions. “Dougernaut?” he said. “Yeah, that’s the nickname I’m going with.”

Doug Martin is still reminding everyone that his nickname is the Muscle Hamster. He’s the only person that brings it up, and every time he does, he makes everyone remember how awesome the nickname is. He should be proud of being the Muscle Hamster. Any time you get a unique, one of a kind nickname, that’s how you know you’ve made it. Doug should be embracing being the Muscle Hamster, not making up his own nicknames for himself. That’s not how nicknames work. I can’t just demand everyone start calling me Natey Bigdick. Doug Martin was the Muscle Hamster, is the Muscle Hamster, and always will be the Muscle Hamster. And that’s the bottom line, ’cause Natey Bigdick said so.
