Eric Hosmer's Sac Fly Bat Flip Was Somehow More Cocky Than Jose Bautista's
I am definitely not a “no bat flip” type of guy. People who don’t like bat flips are the same people that say there is too much dunking in the NBA and that the new NFL touchdown celebration rules are great. But with that said, pulling out this cocky of a bat flip for a sac fly is taking us backwards in the bat flip game. Hosmer just opened the door for all the no fun police to storm through and talk about bat flips being bad for the game. I know it’s the World Series and you just won a 14 inning game but you also made an out, Eric. You simply made contact and put the ball in the air, the hard part was left up to your runner tagging and beating the throw, so to do a slow walk, stare down, bat flip seems a bit much. I still love it, it’s just incredibly aggressive especially for a guy who almost lost the game with some Roger Dorn Ole bullshit in the top of the 8th.
Obviously KFC is going to cover this series from the Mets point of view but it needs pointing out how fucking insane Ned Yost is. I don’t watch a lot of AL baseball but everyone always says the Royals win in spite of Ned Yost not because of him and that Lorenzo Cain at bat in the bottom of the 8th was seriously the worst at bat I’ve ever seen in my life. Maybe Cain went rogue and did it himself, but having a .307 hitter attempt to push bunt with no outs and a guy on second is the height of idiocy. I know they love to get runners moving at all costs but sometimes you should probably just let your good hitters move guys by you know, hitting.
