The NFL Swept The Jets Locker Room For Bugs Before Their Game At Gillette, Refuse To Do It When The Patriots Asked
(Source) — Boomer Esiason of WFAN reported on his weekday radio show that the Jets asked that their locker room at Gillette Stadium be swept for bugs in advance of Sunday’s game against the Patriots. Contacted by PFT, the Jets declined comment regarding the situation. A source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that the Jets did not request that the locker room be swept for bugs; however, the source did not deny that the locker room was swept for bugs. The Patriots likewise had no comment on the situation, and the NFL could not immediately be reached for comment. Concerns regarding the presence of bugs in Gillette Stadium locker rooms aren’t new; it was one of the main points made last month in an article from Sports Illustrated regarding suspicions about the Patriots. No listening devices ever have been found in any locker rooms in the Patriots stadium. As one source has explained it to PFT, the Patriots have become concerned that a team eventually will plant bugs on its own and claim that the Patriots put them there. This has prompted the Patriots to ask the league to certify before each game that the visiting locker room is clean before an opposing team enters. Per the source, the NFL has declined to do this.
So let me get this straight, the Jets say “Hey we’re a little concerned with all those made-up listening devices that the Colts invented. Mind sweeping the place?” and the NFL sends in the cavalry. The Patriots say “Hey we’re a little concerned with everyone making up this bullshit about us bugging the place. Mind just going in there and looking for yourself before the other team has a chance to plant something?” and the NFL says no thank you.
What fucking planet am I on?
The Pats are essentially opening their doors and saying, “Hello officers, come in, have a look around. No, no, we’re not concerned with warrants. Don’t even worry about it, mi casa es su casa” and the league just isn’t concerned with making sure it’s all clear. They’d rather perpetuate the rumors and let the fear mongering continue to sweep sports talk. Roger Goodell would rather let every team come in with the built in excuse that Hey they’re so good it’s like they knew our plays. Hmmmm… makes you think, doesn’t it? rather than just nip the whole thing in the bud and tell every team that there’s nothing in there. That makes a lot of sense.
Let the rest of the league continue to believe in the boogeyman. Fine with me. It’s a lot scarier thinking he might exist rather than looking under the bed and seeing there’s nothing there.
