Shout Out To This Dog That Rides The Bus To The Dog Park By Herself And Everyone Loves Her

AP - A black Labrador named Eclipse just wants to get to the dog park. So if her owner takes too long finishing his cigarette, and their bus arrives, she climbs aboard solo and rides to her stop – to the delight of fellow Seattle bus passengers. KOMO-TV reports ( http://is.gd/R9Fa86 ) that local radio host Miles Montgomery was amazed to see the pooch get off the bus, without an owner, at a dog park last week. The dog and her owner, Jeff Young, live right near a bus stop. In Young’s words, “She’s a bus-riding, sidewalk-walking dog.” Young says his dog sometimes gets on the bus without him, and he catches up with her at the dog park three or four stops away. Bus riders report she hops onto seats next to strangers, and watches out the window for her stop. Says commuter Tiona Rainwater, “All the bus drivers know her … she makes everybody happy.” A Metro Transit spokesman says the agency loves that a dog appreciates public transit.

What a beast. Love this dog. Owner taking too long smoking? Fuck that, pooch gotta play. This dog is smarter than I’ll ever be. I go to get on the Metro and I spend 15 minutes looking at the fares, trying to figure out where I’m going and how much to put on my card. (Note: DC Metro you don’t pay per swipe, you pay for where you’re coming from and where you’re going and it’s a ridiculous system.) Meanwhile this dog just hops on the bus and knows exactly where to get off, all while not speaking a word of English. In comparison, once I put way too much on my Metro card because I can’t figure it out, I never know which way the tracks are going, never know where to transfer, and generally have a terrible time. I need to be more like this dog.

PS: Pretty nice of the news to claim it’s clearly homeless owner has an apartment. I found that the most touching part of the story. Not that everyone loves the dog and it gives everyone kisses, but that everyone thinks the dog’s owner doesn’t live outside. He probably really appreciates that.
