I Knew Roman Reigns' Win Last Night Was Similar To Daniel Bryan's...I Just Didn't Realize It Was Basically Identical

As I wrote in the Survior Series blog this morning, WWE is doing this thing now where Roman Reigns is going to play the underdog. Which is strange because Roman Reigns is the most strongly booked wrestler of the last year. Stronger than even Superman himself John Cena. According to the Reddit thread, Roman Reigns has literally never lost a 1 on 1 match clean. Never been pinned in a singles match. Never had to work his way up, never was the underdog….and now that’s how they are going to choose to book him, because it worked with Daniel Bryan. Is WWE that dumb? It worked with Daniel Bryan because he connected with fans. RR doesn’t connect with fans in that way. It worked with Daniel Bryan because he’s about 5’8, 170 pounds. Roman Reigns is fucking gigantic. It’s so strange this is the route they’re choosing to take. Making Reigns “overcome the odds” when the only real odds he’s been up against is being placed at the top and never succeeding.

They should do with him what I’ve been saying for the longest time- make him a new Brock Lesnar. Silent and deadly. He already can’t cut a promo. He wears a fucking bullet proof vest. And he thrived in the roll as part of the Shield. Make him the meanest, darkest guy on the roster. People love ass kickers. Reigns doesn’t have the charisma and personality to get over as the joyful, make-a-wish granting, funny on the mic guy. He’s just not that guy. But he could get over if he literally just beat the shit out of everyone a la Lesnar. Wouldn’t take long before people realized “woah, I remember how awesome he used to be, I like that about him”. I get why WWE needs the babyfaces to be all media and kid friendly, but it’s so fucking dumb that they don’t realize more than 1 guy can be atop the company. Not everyone can be John Cena or Daniel Bryan, it’s ridiculous that they think everyone has to fit that mold. That’s why DB worked to begin with, he was different. Reigns can still be “their guy” but he can be a monster as that guy, and if they do that, people might just start taking him seriously again.
