What in the hell just happened? A seemingly boring Sunday afternoon at the Masters turned into one of the craziest finishes ever. Seriously. It was OVER. Jordan Spieth was in the driver seat as the day started and continued to look that way through the entire front nine. Everybody else on the leaderboard was collapsing around him and he just stayed steady. Making clutch pars to keep himself in the lead. People were already warming up all their “youngest player to ever win back-to-back Masters” tweets and “Jordan Spieth is the greatest golfer since Tiger Woods and it’s not even close” columns.

Then this stretch happened

And I tweeted out a Vince Carter “It’s over” gif because it was over. The great Jordan Spieth doesn’t give up a lead like that to win back-to-back Master. Or at least that’s what everybody on the face of the Earth, including Jordan Spieth, was thinking.

Then this happened at 10 and 11

Then THIS happened and the wheels were officially off for Spieth

Danny Willett just hung around and hung around and made some huuuuuuuuuge shots down the stretch. Spieth tried to come back on the last few holes but it was too little too late.

Which then led to this

Danny Willett won the green jacket fair and square but the story will be more about how Spieth collapsed. No doubt about it. Brutal brutal brutal. We’ll talk more about it in the full recap tomorrow but wow. Just wow. Congratulations to Theon Greyjoy.
