Slipknot Singer Slaps Phone Out Of Fans Hand Because He Doesn't Want Anyone Texting At Shows

ET Canada - Slipknot’s lead singer Corey Taylor was not pleased when he caught a fan texting at his show. In a video posted to the heavy metal band’s official Facebook page, Taylor was seen knocking the mobile phone out of a fan’s hands, who appeared distracted looking down at his phone. Taylor then pointed to the fan, who didn’t seem to be upset, pointing back up to the singer. He later tweeted, “If you’re going to text, stay home.”

So this is the hill multi-millionaire musicians are choosing to die on. Alicia Keys doesn’t let people take out their phones during her shows. Adele yelled at a fan for recording her show and not enjoying it in real time or whatever. And now this Slipknot guy, who dresses like this,

is the moral authority of what you can or cannot do at a show.

I see both sides of the argument. On one side, if you pay for a ticket, you can do what you want. If you want to text your buddy what song they are playing, take a snapchat of your favorite song, or maybe a video to remember a moment, I don’t see the harm in that. I hate these musicians getting on their high horse and spewing this “live in the now, enjoy how talented I am while you’re here” nonsense. It just seems so holier than thou, like god forbid someone look at their phone for 10 seconds to send a clip or catch a Squirtle.

I do see the Slipknot guy’s side of it too though. This guy was texting in the FRONT ROW. So many people would give an arm and a leg for that spot, that it is disrespectful to text in the middle of a song right in front of the singer’s face. Maybe be a bit more discrete about it or move back a little if you aren’t enjoying the show. I certainly wouldn’t stand on the rail in the front row of a show if I was going to be bored to death the entire time.
