Incoming Oklahoma State Men's Basketball Player Collapses and Dies
I absolutely hate writing these types of blogs and it absolutely sucks to say another college basketball player has died. Incoming Oklahoma State player Tyrek Coger collapsed during a team workout yesterday and died. The cause of death is unknown, but as we saw with Dayton’s Steve McElvene it’s a decent change that it’s heart related.
Coger is a 21 year old from Raleigh, who originally committed to Ole Miss in November, but was ruled ineligible because the SEC doesn’t allow junior college transfers unless they played three consecutive semesters at the same school. While at Cape Fear Community College in Wilmington, North Carolina, Coger put up 12.2 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. Coger, a 6’9”, 240 pound power forward was expected to be used in the pick-and-roll game with new coach Brad Underwood.
There will be a press conference today by the school where we can possibly learn more.
