Joey Bosa's Mom Is Upset That Her Son Didn't Pull "An Eli Manning" On The Chargers

NFL Draft

San Diego Union Tribune- Imagine, for a moment, being Joey Bosa’s mother. Your 21-year-old son is the only NFL draft pick not in training camp. Being an outlier casts a negative light on him; while some fans side with him, others naturally back the team. You believe your son is being dragged through the mud by an organization that has not communicated with Bosa’s agent in 10 days, that has yet to propose a contract structure resembling recent deals for a No. 3 overall pick. Oh, and by the way, had the home-state Jaguars drafted your son fifth overall instead of the Chargers at No. 3, none of this would be a problem. Well, she is reacting as parents sometimes do.

A source authenticated a Facebook comment left by Cheryl Bosa on Sunday afternoon. In it, she voices frustration at the situation. “It bums me out for him so much,” she wrote to a friend. “Wish we pulled an Eli Manning on draft day.” Manning, of course, shunned the Chargers before the 2004 NFL Draft. His father Archie said that he didn’t want his son to play for the franchise. The team ultimately drafted Manning first overall anyway only to trade him to the Giants in a package featuring quarterback and No. 4 overall pick Philip Rivers.

A bold move by Mama Bosa dunking on the Chargers out of the blue as her son continues to hold out. I imagine every fan base has a few names that is basically a curse word. Former punter Matt D**** does that for Giants fans. I am sure there are no shortage of those guys for Browns fans. And Eli Manning is definitely one of those names for Chargers fans. I’m sure Chargers fans love Philip Rivers rocking bolo ties and popping kids into his wife nonstop while occasionally going all PHILLIP RIVERSSSS on teams.

While also posing for incredible pictures.

And while I looooove Eli Manning more than almost any other human on Earth, I have to admit that he did act like kind of a bitch on draft day before becoming a 2-time Super Bowl MVP.

So you can understand why the San Diegoites? San Diegoans? San Diegans feel the same was about Eli Manning as they did about Ron Burgundy after he told the whole city to go fuck themselves. Then again, it’s hard to feel bad for people that root for a perennially disappointing team when they live in paradise, even though their stadium is God awful and always just has that different look on TV that I can’t describe. I had to hear about how the Giants got fleeced in that trade because Shawne Merriman was going to be the next L.T.

Looking back now, there was so much slander against great Giants after this trade. Same with LaDanian Tomlinson going by the nickname L.T. And it feels like the Chargers always have some weird contract tomfoolery going on, even moreso than the rest of the NFL. So maybe it’s the Chargers that are the problem, not my beloved Elisha. Mama Bosa may have a point after all. Sorry Chargers fans, but “pulling an Eli Manning” should be reserved for when someone is good at their job and then goes out and does something absolutely fucking spectacular every so often.
