Steven Adams Once Told Kevin Garnett That He Didn't Speak English So KG Wouldn't Talk Trash To Him
What a savvy move by Steven Adams. Even though he is a legitimate giant with nuts that were able to withstand multiple Draymond Green kicks, I imagine a young Steven marveled at Garnett, since stories of KG being a bad motherfucker spread halfway across the world. Adams probably had no idea that every time KG saw a foreigner, he turned his Fake Tough Guy Meter onto a full blown 10. So Adams had to think on the fly and go with the ol’ no speaky English on Garnett.
And I can’t even give Garnett shit for not knowing what language Adams speaks. If you asked what the official language of New Zealand was, I probably would have guessed English. But if you told me New Zealanders spoke some magical language that originated in Lord of the Rings, I would believe you. New Zealand is basically Parts Unknown in my mind.
