Now before we really get going here, let me start off by saying good for Kevin. Fact of the matter is that fat people tend to die sooner than not fat people (sorry, Big Cat). So good on Kevin–who is an actual real life person and not just a hockey fan who takes his shirt off during games for others’ amusement. 161 pounds is a ridiculous transformation that takes a ton of effort and dedication and I’m proud of the guy.

With that being said… Nobody wants to see a dude with toned arms, a nice jawline and upper body strength take off their shirt in public. Want to know why? Because now you’re making other people feel bad about themselves. It’s easy to point and laugh at the fat funny guy taking his shirt off because “thank god that’s not me”. Fat people are innately funny, that much is a fact as much as the sky is blue. When you see a guy who looks like he has a midsized sedan around his waist take off his shirt and douse himself in beer, it’s nearly impossible to not laugh. But losing 161 pounds? There’s nothing funny about that. He probably doesn’t even drink beer anymore. Probably just slams cans of La Croix now. Sure, he could still be electrifying on camera. You don’t lose that showmanship when you shed all those pounds. But it’s just not the same.

So yes. I’m very happy for Kevin. I don’t know anything about his personal life but I’m sure he has a family that is pretty pumped to see he finally took control of his health and will be around for longer. But I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t at least a little sad about it because it truly is the end of an era.
