William Kassouf Is An All Time WSOP Villain And I Hate That He's Always In The Right
I’ve been asked about this guy William Kassouf a dozen times over the last week so I thought I’d blog about him real quick. He’s been pretty much the star of the 2016 WSOP coverage on ESPN, all due to his outrageous table talk. He’s rude, he’s annoying, he’s REALLY REALLY annoying, and he seems like the absolute last person you’d want to play at a poker table with. Sure, there are always the people you never want to sit next to- the fat person who takes up 2 seats, the un-groomed 45 year old who has ear hair going everywhere and breath that smells like a dead dog’s dick, and of course the guy who thinks he’s the next Phil Ivey and talks strategy after every hand. But this Kassouf guy is all-time terrible, but god dammit he’s great at it.
He gets under everyone’s skin, he infuriates everyone, he gets penalty after penalty, but I’m not sure he’s ever actually wrong. All he does wrong is keep talking when the floor tells him not to- but he kinda has a point that he was in the right to talk to begin with. Kinda. It’s such a grey area, but fuckkk I hate his guts. Jamie Gold was similar, and he talked his way to first place at the WSOP main event. It’s definitely a great method if you’re good at it, and there’s no denying Kassouf was great at it.
Everyone got their comeuppance though, as Kassouf lost on the final day of the Main Event in the most brutal way possible
I go to Aruba in 2 weeks, first place there is about 100k, hopefully that doesn’t happen to me, oh man that’d suck.
