Kelsey Grammar Is Having His 7th Kid At Age 61
CELEBRITY BABY SCOOP – Congratulations are in order for Kelsey Grammer and Kayte Walsh. The Frasier star, 61, and his wife, 35, welcomed their third child together and Grammer’s seventh total – son Auden James Ellis Grammer – on Monday, Nov. 14, PEOPLE reports.
“Both mother and son are doing great,” their rep says. “The name was chosen to honor the great poet W.H. Auden, and James is after another great poet and singer James Taylor — two of our favorites.”
Grammer and Walsh are also parents to daughter Faith Evangeline Elisa, 4, and son Kelsey Gabriel Elias, 2. The Cheers alum is also dad to daughters Spencer, 33, Greer, 24, and Mason Olivia, 15, and son Jude Gordon, 12. Greer – who is an actress on Awkward – recently gushed about becoming a big sister again.
“I’m very excited,” the actress said. “I mean, my dad, he loves little kids. He always has. He’s a huge little-child fan, and he’s just so good at it. Him and Kayte are such good partners and they parent so well together and they just want this kind of big family. So now I’m going to be one of seven, which is crazy.”
Firstly, am I the only one who is shocked that Kelsey Grammar is only 61? I would have guessed that he was 50 when they were filming Frasier, which started in ’93. I just am a little dumbfounded at why he would want to crank out another youth in his 60s. It would make sense if he had never had a kid before and he was trying to fulfill a lifelong wish, but he already had 6 kids. It could also make sense if all his kids were grown and he wanted to have a young kid again or something, but he was already dealing with a 4 and a 2-year-old. I don’t get it.
The name is definitely Hollywood weird, as Auden is the only logical sequitur to Spencer, Greer, Mason, Jude, Faith and Kelsey II. Rest in peace to the name “Mike.” This kid shouldn’t feel too much pressure in life, being the son of Frasier and being named after a poet who’s best known for writing The Age of Anxiety: A Baroque Eclogue. This is going to be one pretentious baby.
If Kelsey can even remember his name.
