A man who got tangled in an Arapahoe Basin chairlift Wednesday morning and was hanging unconscious from his neck was cut down by a professional slackliner who climbed up a lift tower, slid approximately 30 feet across the lift’s cable and cut him free with a knife tossed from ski patrollers.

The harrowing rescue was recounted to The Denver Post on Thursday by the rescuer and confirmed by the resort, which says it is reviewing the incident that occurred around 11 a.m. on the Lenawee Mountain Lift. Parts of the rescue were also captured on video and in still photos.

People who can think quickly on their feet always have my admiration. This dude, which you can see in the video here, barely hesitated when his pal was dangling by his neck. He just springs into action and saves his pal’s life by cutting his ass down.

If you’re gonna be hanging by your neck on a ski lift, the best place to do it is near a professional slackliner. I didnt even know that you could be a professional slackliner but apparently you can. And now we get to watch what a day in the life of a professional slacker does. #SlackLife4Life

The worst part of this is now I’m going to be worried sick every time Riggs goes skiing. I don’t want him hanging by his neck because he was playing fast and loose with his backpack. You have any idea what hanging from your neck does to your eyes? Terrible. Just terrible.
