Even though it was announced earlier in 2016 that the Arena League was coming to Baltimore, it didn’t feel like we officially had a team, mostly because the team did not have a name. Well now, we know that name. Royal Farms Arena (The Chicken Box) will be home to the Baltimore Brigade.

With the addition of the Brigade and the Washington Valor this season, that brings the league total to 5 teams, The Cleveland Gladiators, Philadelphia Soul, and the Tampa Bay Storm.  The Brigade kick off their season opener on Friday, April 7th against their crosstown rival, the Valor. Throw the history books out when these guys meet, they just don’t like each other. No love lost. If this game is anything like the O’s-Nats series history, Baltimore will pack the Verizon Center, the Brigade will leave with a win. Start this franchise off on a winning note.

All games will be played on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, and most games are at night. I could easily do a Saturday afternoon game at Camden Yards, and then stumble over to the Chicken Box to watch the Brigade beat up on Ron Jaworski’s Philadelphia Soul. Sounds like a nice little Saturday in Charm City.

They have been starting to add some guys with winning pedigrees to the team, just building the best AFL team ever.

A Super Bowl champion defensive back, Alfonzo Dennard will lead the secondary for Baltimore. Some say he is the best DB this area has seen since Ed Reed (No one said that).  He was a 7th round pick of the Pats, and started 20 games for them. Can’t wait to watch this ballhawk run around the Chicken Box.

Another winner here, and a native of Maryland, the Brigade signed Leon Brown to be a wall in front of whoever they bring in to play QB.

I mean how can you root against a team with this guy on it? I’m a HUGE Kody Afusia guy. Always have been.

Plus, with 7-time Arena Bowl Champ, and Arena League Hall Of Famer, Omarr Smith leading the troops, there is no way this team will underachieve this season. I’m expecting HUGE things from Omarr and the Brigade. OMARR COMIN YA’LL!!!

Words can’t describe how excited I am for the AFL to come to Baltimore. I need to see 600 yard passing games, I need to see kickoffs off the netting, I need to see guys slammed over the walls, I need to see the celebrations. Interesting to note they are using El Pres’ #BrickByBrick too. Hmmmm, hmu with those free tickets.
