Atlanta Braves Prospect Matt Foley's Bat Knob Pays Homage To Chris Farley's SNL Character Matt Foley
This is great. I might be a little biased, because this was the SNL era that I grew up with, but I think Matt Foley, motivational speaker is the greatest SNL skit of all-time. Maybe I can’t fully appreciate the skits that came before and after this era, because it’ll always be the golden era of SNL to me, but Matt Foley has to be the most quoted, most imitated, and most referenced SNL skit that ever aired.
I just looked, and 22-year-old Braves prospect Matt Foley wasn’t listed on Atlanta’s top 30 prospects by MLB.com, but I hope this kid burns through the system and has a long, decorated major league career because of this bat knob move. I hope he ends up with 3,000 hits, 500 home runs, and 10 Gold Glove awards. He’s from Seekonk, Massachusetts, and he went to RIC, so he’s gotta be a Stoolie. Fun fact: When I was a senior in high school, I dated a freshman at RIC, and she fucked some dude on the RIC baseball team on my birthday. Matt, if you’re reading this, you’re my favorite former RIC baseball player. I’ll admit, the competition is pretty thin, but you’re my guy. Also, if you ever break one of those bats and you wanna send me one, I wouldn’t hate that at all. Thanks, man.
