Mark Trumbo Hits The Walkoff Bomb As The Orioles Beat The Blue Jays On Opening Day
7th straight Opening Day win for the Birds, and second walk off in a row. Nothing makes me happier than seeing that D bag, Jason Grilli hang his head and walk off the mound a loser. Guy cums himself every time he gets an out, only a matter of time before he hung one today, and that’s what happened.
Kevin Gausman had a pretty good outing for his first Opening Day start, 5.1 IP, 5 hits, 2 runs, 4 Ks. He did a great job of limiting this dangerous Blue Jays lineup to only 2 runs, not easy to do, especially in this ballpark. It didn’t take long for the bullpen to give up a run though, Mychal Givens came in and gave up 2 hits, one scored a run that was credited to Gausman. Brad Brach came in and thew a scoreless inning, followed by Zach Britton who threw 2 scoreless innings, keep your god damn Britton jokes to yourselves. Tyler Wilson got the win, and he shut me up. I was waiting for him to hang one to Donaldson or Bautista, but he was able to pitch an inning of scoreless ball and help the O’s secure the win.
The O’s offense was it’s 2016 Boom or Bust offense, they had guys in scoring position a few times and couldn’t cash in, until the third inning when Chris Davis doubled in Seth Smith, and Mark Trumbo drove in Adam Jones, both with doubles. Jonathan Schoop had a rough overall day, a few bad throws in the field that were scooped up by Davis, and he went 0-4 at the plate. We saw our first Trey Mancini action of the season, he pinch hit for Seth Smith in the 10th and singled up the middle. Manny had an unreal play in the field as you can see above, I mean I don’t know how many times I have to tell you all, he’s unreal. Also, the Blue Jays left 26 guys on base, Jose Bautista had 8 of them by himself, that’s an insane # of guys to leave on.
O’s with the traditional day off tomorrow, but then get right back at it on Wednesday. Dylan Bundy faces J.A. Happ at 7:05.
