Why Is The Middle Finger Bad? An Investigative Report
A stupid question, sure. I’ll admit that. Been asking stupid questions all my life. But when did we, as a society, decide that keeping your middle finger up while putting your other 4 fingers (or 3 fingers + a thumb if you’re one of those assholes) down was such a horrifying gesture? So much so that when someone dressed as a mascot with a giant baseball on top of his head does it, they end up getting fired.
Who was the first person to give somebody the finger? What did he think the reaction was going to be? Who was the first person to get all butt hurt about it? Was it the first person to receive the finger? Or were people happily throwing that shit around for years with no real issues until some 18th century bitch-made beta got his poor wittle feelings hurt and decided from that point on that it was no longer a suitable gesture for baseball mascots to make? I understand that it’s the same idea as curse words. There’s nothing inherently bad about putting the letters f, u, c and k together but for some reason at one point in history, somebody was just like, “nope, can’t do that anymore”.
Basically all I’m saying is the middle finger plays such a big role in our daily lives yet we have no idea why. And by “we” I mean “me”. Maybe one of you did a thesis paper on the middle finger and can enlighten me on the jabroni who decided to ruin it for everybody.
