In A Beef For The Ages, Nickelback Is Feuding With Slipknot - Who Ya Got?
COS - During a video interview with Metal Covenant, a beer swilling Kroeger bragged about Nickelback’s versatility, saying, “I can’t think of another band that’s as diverse as we are.” In response, the interviewer brought up Stone Sour, and the fireworks began.
People say rap feuds have gone soft. They say it’ll never be like the old Tupac/Biggie days. Mike The Bike vs Rob Stone doesn’t get the people going. Well, maybe we should stop focusing on rap feuds and put our focus on what matters- rock n roll feuds. And what better bands to really get the juices flowing than the world’s favorite punching bag Nickelback, and a band that scares the world, Slipknot. And man, is it GREAT:
Apparently triggered, Kroeger claimed Stone Sour was “trying to be Nickelback” and took Taylor to task for allegedly claiming how easy it is to write a hit song. “Show me,” Kroeger said. “Write one. I have yet to hear one… They’re okay, but they’re not as good as Nickelback. They sound like Nickelback Lite.”
Amazing. Chad Kroeger going after Corey Taylor, saying his other band, Stone Sour, is “Nickelback lite”. It’s such an amazing quote, like the dude from Slipknot
is trying to be Nickelback. I love Kroeger’s self-confidence. It’s be like me claiming Stephen King is ripping off my work.
Kroeger then moved his attention to Taylor’s other band, his former labelmates Slipknot. “They had to put on masks and jump around,” he said. “How good can your music be if you’ve got to beat each other up on stage, throw up in your own masks every night?”
I mean, Nickelback has made a billion dollars by being elevator music and the band that plays over the loudspeaker at Staples when you need to run in and buy some Sharpies, and Slipknot has made a billion dollars by putting on masks and puking all over the place. To each their own, in my opinion.
The best part of this is Chad Kroeger’s ego is so huge, he doesn’t even get how funny it is that he’s trashing another band’s music. You know how much better life would be if Nickelback was self-aware? If they just went with the jokes? I do think the amount of hate for them is exaggerated, but it’s mostly because they make themselves so hatable. If they could just be cool, and not be not cool, then people would admit How You Remind Me and Photograph are jams.

And because it’s the best feud going, Corey Taylor fired back today:
COS - “I don’t know what the hell planet he’s living on,” Taylor responded when asked about Kroeger’s comments. “Apparently it’s Planet Kroeger, and there must be good weed there, ’cause he’s an idiot… I was so cued up to say some stuff about him, and then I just started reading all the comments online. I don’t have to say a damn thing. He is not a liked person.”
All I know is I’ve been voted ‘Sexiest Dude In Rock’ wearing a mask,” Taylor boasted. “You’ve been voted ‘Ugliest Dude In Rock’ twice without one. Stick that up your ass.”

Can’t wait to see what happens in the next round of this feud. So far I have it scored pretty evenly- Nickelback is the much bigger band, but Slipknot guy is way more likable and good looking. Hopefully they write some diss tracks and turn this shit up to 11.
