Johnny Depp Owns Fourteen Homes And Reportedly Can't Sell A Damn One Of Them
Source - Johnny Depp is ready to part with his old Kentucky home, but no buyer wants to pick it up. After originally hitting the market in December for $2.9 million, Depp’s 41-acre horse farm outside of Lexington went on the auction block on Friday, but failed to sell. The highest bid was less than half of the property’s previous listing price.
Depp successfully sold the farm once before, but later bought it back.
The Pirates of the Caribbean star, 54, who was born in Kentucky, reportedly first picked up the farm in 1995 for $950,000, and sold it in 2001 for $1 million. He purchased it again in 2005 for $2 million.
The Herald reports the house also has shag carpeting in the kitchen, a television “the size of a queen bed” in the master suite, and “numerous family photos” inside.
Depp also re-listed his estate in the South of France in July 2016, nearly doubling the asking price from $17 million to $55.5 million.
Mr. Depp also has listen four penthouses inside Eastern Columbia Lofts are still for sale, collectively or individually, with price upon request.
These stories seem to be popping up all over the internet. “Depp forced to unload Kentucky mansion amid money troubles.” “Depp doubles price of French Chateau after failing to close sale.” To be honest I was trying to avoid talking about it but I just can’t keep my mouth shut any longer. And before you start feeling bad for Captain Jack, know this- he owns fourteen homes. And I use the term “homes” lightly, they’re more like estates. Actually, scratch that, they’re manors.
There’s the sixty-three million dollar French Chateau.
The four-million dollar island in the Bahamas.
The seven-million dollar Charlie and the Chocolate factory LA pent house.
The thirteen-million dollar Hollywood hills mansion.
And ten others that I didn’t feel like listing.
Stories like these fascinate me. I try to wrap my head around the level of wealth and stupidity required to purchase and maintain fourteen homes but I can’t. The only thing I can chalk it up to is the need to maintain their image. They create the mystique of wealth and plenty in order to keep the public interested. It’s their livelihood. Don’t get me wrong, Jonny Depp is rich, two-hundred million dollars is a lot of money, but cut that in half after the divorce, then divide that by fourteen and it’s not that much. He also spends $30,000 a month on wine, $200,000 a month on private planes, $150,000 a month on security, and $300,000 on a staff of 40 people. What an idiot, hilariously lavish spending habits. Billionaires don’t even live that good. You’d think he would’ve learned from his pal Nick Cage but apparently not. It’s like he’s embodying the characters he’s played. They guy literally bought himself a pirate ship after filming pirates.
Celebrities need financial literacy programs the same way NFL rookies do. Depp has been famous for a minute so he should know better but it’s still insane. FOURTEEN HOUSES. Whether or not he starts listing the rest of his homes is yet to be seen but I’d assume selling them would it’ll be an uphill battle if he does. I can’t imagine many people are in the market for pirate ships and Charlie and Chocolate Factory set replicas. At any rate, he doesn’t seem to be too upset. He knows all he has to do is make another Pirates movie and he’s good for the one-hundred years.
