Fucking. Awesome. I don’t know if I will ever see a Mets World Series in my life. But I know if I do, I will sound EXACTLY like Steve Sparks even if I am at home by myself. Just nonsense and ridiculousness spilling out of my mouth at lightning speeds. And probably enough champagne to sink a yacht while hugging, and if we are being honest, kissing every person I see. Hell I’d even hug the Wilpons if the Mets figured out a way to overcome their ownership and win the Series.
And yeah seeing video of the scene as Steve told Carlos Correa he wanted to taste him and his fiance would have been interesting. But I would almost rather have the reaction as audio because it’s such pure happiness. Candy for the ears if you may.
We’ve heard Astros fans like Tex talk about what it was like to follow the Astros during the dark days that were necessary to build up the team to where it is today. But you have to be really happy for the people that work for and cover the team before they were kings of the baseball world and winning one of the best World Series we will ever see. Especially the guys that came before Steve and went through those real dark days.
