Terrible Waiter And Even Worse Human Repeatedly Asks Customers For Proof Of Citizenship Before Offering To Seat Them In Separate Section
Source - Diana Carrillo, a 24-year-old business analyst from Orange County, CA, thought she was just going out for a meal with her three girlfriends at Saint Marc’s Pub-Cafe. But instead she found herself being asked for proof of residency by a waiter before he would serve her. “For a few seconds I thought maybe he was being a smart ass or joking,” she wrote in a Facebook post. “But the fact that he said ‘I need to make sure you’re from here before I serve you’ was completely unacceptable.”
After the women handed over their IDs to the waiter, they decided to report him to the manager, who reportedly offered to seat them in a separate section. The four women decided to leave the establishment altogether.
Kent Bearden, senior director of operations at Saint Marc’s, told The Washington Post that the company had fired the waiter following his misconduct. “My concern is he violated a company policy,” Bearden said. “We’re very specific about how we treat out guests. That individual did not treat a table of guests to the expectations that we set forth in that company policy, and that caused him to be terminated.”
Saint Marc’s also offered to host the women with a VIP experience at the restaurant. The women ultimately declined on the meal but asked that the money be donated to Orange County Immigrant Youth United.
Not the ideal dining experience! Imagine trying to grab a bite to eat with your buddies only to have some swagged-out waiter pull a stunt like this? I understand why they were confused. You wouldn’t expect your waiter to moonlight as a DIY ICE agent. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy a citizen’s arrest as much as the next guy but you have to know when it’s appropriate. If you want to break up robberies, fine. Same goes for theft, but running up on a four-woman luncheon is going to be frowned upon ten times out of ten. I’m sure it’s not covered in the Saint Marc’s Pub-Cafe handbook but maybe it should be. Right in between don’t jerk off onto customers’ food and don’t take naps in the freezer.
Surprisingly the situation got worse once the manager got involved. They don’t want to sit in a new section, you idiot. Don’t Rosa Parks them to the back of the bus. Apologize, beg them not to post it on Facebook, and send the waiter home. I would’ve been fine with a million free drinks and an appetizer sampler but that’s because I’m a scumbag. These ladies have class. They even resisted the resturant’s offer for a VIP experience. Not sure what that includes but word on the street is that your background and citizen status won’t be questioned.
It’s shocking how ignorant some people can be. You’d think they’d know better considering it’s 2017 but apparently not. Sad, yet another case of the un-educates making us all look bad. In Orange County of all places. Mischa Barton would be ashamed.
