Russell Wilson Getting A Divorce Before His Big Contract Is A Savvy Savvy Move

(Source) April 24, 2014 — Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has announced that he and his wife Ashton Russell are divorcing. Wilson made the announcement in a statement released by the Seahawks on Wednesday. He says decisions like this are not easy and respectfully asks for “prayers and understanding and privacy during this difficult time.”

The pair married in January 2012 after he finished his college career at Wisconsin and before he was drafted by the Seahawks. The couple had been visible at Seahawks events for his first two seasons in the league. Wilson led Seattle to its first Super Bowl title in February, when the Seahawks overwhelmed the Denver Broncos.

I think the correct thing to say here is something like “Oh I’m so sorry man, that really sucks, sorry guys” but whatever, we’re not exactly a correct thing to say site. So I’ll be honest, absolutely savvy move by Russ. You know what he makes this year? A little over $500,000 dollars. Nothing in NFL quarterback standards. He’s 25, he has a super bowl ring and is about to get PAID by the Seahawks. Probably took a look around the league and saw Romo’s contract and Cutler’s contract and Drew Brees and Rodgers and said to himself, yeah I don’t want to be married when that shit hits. Give me all my money. Give me all the whores and front row seats and VIP access but definitely give me no ball and chain. Smart move. Get out before the shit gets awesome. He might be in his second year but this is nothing short of a crafty vet move.
