United Airlines Fucks Up AGAIN: This Time They Sent A Dog To JAPAN Instead Of Kansas
United Airlines says it’s investigating after mistakenly flying a Kansas family’s dog to Japan.
KCTV reports that Kara Swindle and her two children flew from Oregon to Kansas City, Missouri, Tuesday on a United flight.
They went to a cargo facility to pick up 10-year-old Irgo, a German shepherd, but were instead given a Great Dane. Swindle, of Wichita, Kansas, learned Irgo had been put on a flight to Japan, where the Great Dane was supposed to go.
Oddly enough, this same type of thing happened to be on my way back from Iraq. When I went to Iraq, I was stationed in Japan. So when I was heading back to Japan, I had stops in Germany, North Carolina, California, and then I was finally supposed to be going home to my daughter in Japan. I hadn’t seen my kid in nearly 10 months so I was fucking pumped. Obviously.
I checked my weapons, an M4 and an M9, and my military working dog Csika. Because the dogs are considered weapons, they aren’t allowed to travel in the seats with you on international flights. I got to my seat, checked with the flight attendant that all my gear and my dog was on the plane, and then started to hammer some vodka sodas.
After we had been in the air for about an hour or two, a flight attendant came up to me and said, “Sir, there’s been a mistake. It appears as though we don’t have your dog on this plane. He’s on his way to a different city in Japan and we will connect you when we land.”
The year was 2007, so I didn’t have wifi on the plane. I was completely off-grid. I couldn’t contact anyone. The dogs fly with a tag on their kennel that says, “DO NOT OPEN: WILL ATTACK.” The flight to Japan was 14 hours. Csika had already been in the kennel two hours prior to the flight. If I had to go across Japan, he wouldnt be let out of his kennel for well over a day and a half.
It was the longest flight of my life.
I landed, had to take another flight to Tokoyo; my boss was fucking pissed at me; my kid was at the airport waiting for me and I couldn’t go out front to see her. They waited for over two hours for me to come out and I didn’t arrive in Okinawa for another day and a half. I had to leave my weapons at a Japanese airport which is actually bad and the worst part about the whole situation was seeing Csika’s face when I finally got to him.
Dude was in his kennel for like 40 hours. His hair was a mess. He had shit all over him. He hadnt eaten in nearly 3 days and it was all because an airline didnt check the tag on the kennel before loading the dog into the plane.
It’s been 10 years and they are still making the same types of fuck ups.
