Last Night The NIT Gave Us A Coach Fight in Louisiana
I’ll tell you what. Nothing gets you jacked up like the NIT. I mean that’s how you get your engine going, ready to hate another coach as you make your way to Madison Square Garden. Now, I know what you might be thinking, why the hell was there such a problem between two coaches? You might be thinking, oh it’s LSU and Louisiana they are rivals! No? It’s even better than that. It started with Louisiana’s head coach Bob Marlin who said the following:
Apparently that didn’t sit well with Will Wade and LSU and quite personally I’m ALL the way here for this. I love pettiness, I mean it’s what makes the NBA so great. Don’t get me wrong, this is incredibly stupid to get pissed off about, but I love the intensity by both coaches here. Louisiana feeling like it got snubbed for a NIT home bid. Will Wade having NONE of that.
You might be asking yourself, ‘hey I wonder if Will Wade ever said anything back?’ Oh, boy, did he:
I lost it when he said it felt like it should have been a 2/7 matchup instead of 3/6. I mean that’s just the perfect response. It goes back to that pettiness factor that I enjoy. Does anyone really care about the NIT seedings? Well outside of Bob Marlin and Will Wade most likely not, but they will yell about it. Also these lines are gold, “By the way, we play in an arena. Not a gym.” Followed by this one “well, since they don’t get to play us very often, I thought they should sit there and enjoy the opportunity to play us.”
NIT baby, catch the fever. But seriously, can we get LSU vs Louisiana set up for next year?
