Wake Up With Baby Miguel Cabrera Turning An Intentional Walk Into A Go-Ahead Single
One of the funniest baseball clips I’ve ever seen. I remember watching this game and just howling when Miguel Cabrera hit this pitch for the go-ahead single. I feel like everyone has always said “why don’t players just reach out and hit the intentional walk pitch?” Well, Miggy did that and ended up slapping into center for the eventual game winner as the Marlins beat the Orioles 8-5 in extras back in 2006. Man, this was so awesome.
This also could only happen to the Orioles. No other team could have their pitcher throw a pitch in the majors that resembled a slow pitch softball toss. It’s really just the laziest thing you can do during an IBB. Props to Miggy for actually doing this too. I will say, if he ends up popping this up or making an out, that manager would have ripped him a new one. Love that it is a young Hanley Ramirez scoring the run too.

The best part of the video is Jim Palmer just ripping the Orioles (not that far off from some of the tirades he’s gone on this year). That is why Palmer is the best, he calls the Orioles “little league” lolol I love it. They were such trash at this time, that it is only natural they were on the wrong end of a play like this. As for Todd Williams, the pitcher, he has to kill himself right? Maybe not if its an Orioles – Marlins game in 2006, but man IMAGINE if the INT Walk was still around and a pitcher did this in todays game?
This is another example of why the pitcher should have to throw the pitches for an intentional walk, you never know when someone is going to mail it in. Just an all around hilarious play, credit to Miggy for pulling the trigger on that swing.
The 2017 Orioles may not be far from the 2006 Orioles, but at least Miggy can’t do this to them this year.
Note- I’m gonna be doing random MLB Wake Ups in the mornings. Hit me with any videos you want to see, they don’t all have to be moonshots and fights, random funny MLB videos will play as well. Giddy up.
