How Much Would You Pay For This Old School Nudie?

I usually hate art, but this one I totally understand. It’s not like that stupid blue painting with the white line that sells for 3 trillion dollars every year. No sir, this painting is a masterpiece. Look at that woman! Aroooooooga! What a nudie! What a subtle little slut she is. Giving you those bedroom eyes and a front row seat of those cheeks, but keeping it all close enough to the vest to leave you wanting more. It’s the perfect tease. This chick is the original Instagram model. I wouldn’t be shocked if she had a tub of FitTea on the other side of her body and is about to fuck the artist who flew her there.

So how much would you pay for this painting from 1917? $100? $100,000? A cool milly?

Try again.

Barrons - Amedeo Modigliani’s Nu couché (Sur le côté gauche), the most anticipated sale of the impressionist and modern sales during New York’s spring auction season, failed to generate enthusiasm beyond its US$150 million pre-sale estimate, selling for a total, with fees, of a still extraordinary US$157.2 million.

$157 million! Gollyyyyy! Imagine being the artist of this. He’s just painting some butts, slapping some paint around, trying to hide his raging boner, and next thing he knows some art snob considers it a masterpiece and it’s worth low 9 figures. And not just that, look how much more that ass is worth now compared to 15 years ago:

The sale marks the highest price paid for a work at a Sotheby’s public auction, a fact the firm was quick to point out in the auction room and in a mid-sale press release. The price was also nearly six times the level the work received when it was last sold at auction for nearly US$27 million in 2003, Sotheby’s said in a release.

So I think the moral of this story is pretty clear- Take your nudes, send your nudes, and hold onto those nudes, boys and girls, because one day they too could be worth $157 million.
