Purdue's George Karlaftis 1000% Needs To Go By His Greek Name
George is on pretty much every award list watch heading into 2021. He's heading into his junior season with a good amount of hype and hope to stay fully healthy to anchor the Boilers defense.
But what could get him even more hype is if he went by his actual name - his Greek name: Yoros.
"My Greek name is 'Yoros'" Karlaftis said. "It's not 'George'...it's easy to say, too. 'Yoros' is not super easy to say. It's tough because people can't pronounce it a lot of the time, and I don't want to have to spend a bunch of time saying "hey it's actually..." I don't wanna be that guy."
The whole reason this was even brought up is because of his younger brother Yanni, who is an incoming freshmen at Purdue. He kept his Greek name. George Americanized his. And while I appreciate him wanting to try to make it easier for us simpletons over here, I think Yoros has to be the move. A badass pass rusher is already great, but a badass pass rusher with a badass name is even better.
We talked more about that, him being a big time grill guy, I asked for a prediction of his sack numbers in 2021, and more.
