Nate At Night Episode 1 Featuring JVR And Calling Out Dave's Bullshit

Episode 1 is officially in the books. What a wild one it was. Straight up- no first episode is going to be great. Probably not even good. There’s a learning curve to everything. I am lucky enough to be able to pick the minds of good podcasters like the PMT guys and the KFC Radio guys to learn how to improve though. Guys who know how to put together a good podcast and who don’t mail it in week in and week out. That’s what I strive to be.
I want the podcast to be true to me. Not true to some imaginary person. The whole premise is I talk about shit I’m interested in. Last night I talked DC sports, hockey, and to JVR about some pretty interesting hockey things. Then of course coworker Dave had to make it all about himself so I shed the truth on how he operates vs how the rest of the office operates. I know I played right into his hand because he loves fighting and negativity, so sure, I gave him what he wanted. But everything I said was true. He claims he wants to be Lorne Michaels, but I don’t recall the last time I saw Lorne Michaels attempt to star in every sketch. The Lorne Michaels comparison could literally be the worst comparison of all time.
Best parts of the episode: The opening video, the graphics, JVR was great, the first thing I said was “I can’t hear shit in my microphone”, the calling out Dave.
Worst parts of the episode: The DC sports rambles went too long, a bit disorganized, need to work in viewer interaction, need to be better on the mic.

This thing is a building process. Show number 1 wasn’t going to be a grand slam. After episode 1 of PMT they took criticism and feedback and tweaked the show, and are still tweaking the show. It’s all about evolving, adjusting, trying new things, keeping what works, getting rid of what doesn’t.
All I ask from you guys is you give it a fair shot, let me get a few episodes under my belt, and don’t fall for Dave’s bullshit. I think those are pretty fair things to ask.
